The sculptural wall works shown here began life as compositional design sketches.
I was wanting to break from the traditional PP formatting of the square or rectangle and set myself the challenge to design an image within irregular boundaries.
This type of work automatically required a surface which would be self supporting. Aluminium was an obvious choice - a contemporary material which could easily be cut to any shape. II prepare the design and then working drawings for a commercial cutter, printer and fabricator. Some works are single sheets, others are assembled from several and bolted together.
