The first in this group was by chance, having experimented with time lapse and shutter speed and gave me the idea for the direction I'd take with my entry.
I now think the spontaneity of it makes it the best one.
Face to Face was the result of experimenting with time lapse and shutter speed photography. It was an entirely accidental work and I'm still not sure of the science of it. The selection here shows how my thinking developed ( reverse order) when I set out to create a self portrait to enter in a competition which has opened tonight - 3rd July 2015. My interest in motion photography was the starting point - but in this case the camera was still as I moved into the field of vision creating a blurred effect through a slow shutter speed. The decision to stand in front of one of my works lead me to the surprise outcome of the image floating in the foreground in front of my image. The final work shows me 'inside' an abstract improvisational work I did 27 - 30 yrs ago. There were about 80 takes to give me the final three images - the top three.
