'...from the periphery' is an abstract image comprising the colour blue and two elements which have been varied and repeated. Although I wanted them to land where they fell in the picture plane, old habits of creating order prevailed.
It is my first work after a break of several weeks during which I felt unable to positively create any artwork.
The motivation to work returned because of my habit of looking at the sketched work I like to have on display around me. Out of the corner of my eye I'll see something which grabs my attention - a shape or line or combination of the two. The title of this work reminds me of this process of finding inspiration to create something new.
