This set of 7 gesture drawings was done in a drawing class in 1977.
We were set the task of working to very short poses which our model changed  every 1 - 3 minutes.   I can't remember the exact time of each pose,  but we did many drawings over the 3 hour session.  
I used a bamboo quill,  a thick water colour brush (though it could have been a large Chinese calligraphy brush),   2 colours - perhaps cobalt  a blue and an earth red ink  -  on cartridge paper.   The wash effect was achieve by pre-wetting the surface.  
The object was to achieve an economy of mark and line.
