Although I'm an abstract artist the choices I make when I'm creating a work are invariably influenced by my feelings and emotions as seen in the colours or elements used in each piece. This work has been created while thinking about the shocking events unfolding in Ukraine. One meaning for Matrix - 'the environment or context in which something such as a society develops and grows' - inspired its title.
There are many layers almost thrown together, the grid represents system - while the placement of all the elements represents upheaval. The eyes of the world are upon Ukraine - looking on from outside. The red dot reminds my of the beating heart of Ukraine.
