day after day I stand upon this hill,
watching, waiting.
around me, unbidden, sounds and animals appear,
discordant, foreign.
structures leap out of the earth, angular and disconnected.
seasons pass.
I struggle to maintain a grip on the earth.
I alter shape, stretching, moulding myself to this changing landscape,
yearning for the horizon,
aware of my weakening hold.
I feel the earth shudder.
We are both faltering.
I cry, but am silent.
I must live on.
Who will help?
A part of me must live on.
