Red was the inspiration for this work and as it always lends itself to a contemporary look I chose a geometric design for my composition. I love the colour combination of red, black and white so my approach was to create many variations to reveal the quality of redness.
An astute viewer of the early stages in this project commented on the red being like pools in the composition.
This instantly gave me the title - or similar - and this provided an additional motivating force in my approach.
I have to say that at time I was aware of it resembling blood so perhaps my title has a hidden added meaning and title - 'pools of blood'.
