'Rockface' is the first work which shows a new approach I'm taking to creating images. In it I'm incorporating contrasting elements, not just of shapes and lines, but of treatment.
I've been working exclusively in Illustrator for perhaps a year now and although the design work has developed in that time I have increasingly had the need to bring another dimension to my work - perhaps to bring it to life.
The recent gift to me of the Canon 1000d has revived my interest in photographing the textures and patterns found in nature and this has enabled me to create a new dimension to my work as it contrasts so well with the hard edge vector lines which I love as well
So I have returned to using photoshop as my post production app. I find this is where the magic lies, even though I only use a few of its features, like gradients, patterns, layer types and blending. I'm still learning of course but each work seems to be showing progress.
