While working on a new series 'charcoal bird' this version took me by surprise - it could be called a deviation in my thinking. My approach to creating is to use trial and error, curiosity and play. I think this piece was more about trial than the other three - as I was experimenting with new compositional ideas. I'm never quite sure whether a work influences my mood or the reverse - this case it did mirror my quietened state of mind.
