230426.4.6 - Trapeze - a balancing act with colour
Visceral would be a good word to describe the effect colour as on me.
The first time I was aware of this was in the 1970's in a painting class. Admittedly I may have been experiencing the early symptoms of a cold - or flu, but the feeling I had painting with a particular colour combination made me feel nauseous. It's a similar reaction to certain sounds which can evoke reactions - good or bad.
Perhaps that was the start of my interest in colour - theory and empirical.
Although abstract digital design/drawing is the starting point for all my artwork, colour is increasingly influencing its outcome.
I see the use of colours in artwork being similar to the use of notes in music - both are abstract elements that appeal to the senses.

( I have written this piece to both explain the work and reveal my thoughts behind it. These days I like to record thoughts as I work as it helps to clarify and sometimes reveal the intention of the work in progress.)
